TORONTO, Nov. 7, 2018–D Niro, the Olympic and Word Cup mountfor Jacqueline Brooks, was officially retired in an emotional ceremony at the prestigious Royal Horse Show at home in Toronto.

D Niro, the Swedish Warmblood gelding affectionately known as “Goose,” was Jacqueline’s partner at the 2012 Olympics in London and the 2013 World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden near the horse’s birthplace 19 years ago.

The signature freestyle music for the pair was “Hallelujah,” written by Canadian Leonard Cohen, to choreography created by Jacqueline and Tamara Williamson, a British transplant to Canada.

U.S. Olympian and 2018 World Games team silver medal rider Adrienne Lyle became the Royal Dressage Derby champion in a competition on borrowed horses with Canadians Tom Dvorak and Jaimey Irwin and Esther Mortimer of Guatemala.
